What Causes Low Back Pain?

X-Ray Results

When personal injury occurs, most commonly in auto accidents, the body is held by a seat belt but the organs and bones within the body are severely jolted causing the development of painful conditions.

Example: If a car is struck from the side in a T-Bone accident, the body of the driver will be thrust from one side to the other which can cause a dislocated hip, broken ribs, and/or a herniated disc.

Injury to the sciatic nerve which extends from the lower back through the butt and into one or both legs can also be the cause of low back pain. A herniated disc in the lumbar region may also occur resulting in severe low back pain caused by the disc becoming herniated and pinching the contiguous nerve root.

A herniated disc in the low back can cause:

severe lower back pain, lower extremity weakness, numbness in the upper thighs, and even loss of bladder or bowel control among other symptoms.
